The Pizitz

The Pizitz building in Birmingham, Alabama was once a flagship department store of the same name. Today, the historic structure has been renovated as a multi-use development complete with a full food hall, shops, high-end apartments, and Birmingham’s first brick and mortar independent movie theater, the Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema.

Striking a balance between the building’s architectural history and it’s new, refreshed spirit, Formula planned and conceptualized signage for the building’s facade, apartments, and parking deck. Efforts included creating signage master plans and tenant standards to form a cohesive street front appearance while affording each shop and restaurant the opportunity to express their unique identity.
