Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema

The Sidewalk Film Festival has been a staple of Birmingham’s arts and culture scene for over twenty years. It draws crowds and takes over city streets as people flock into the magic city to partake in independent cinema together. Although the city has hosted this event annually for so long, Birmingham has lacked a brick and mortar cinema dedicated to the education and showing of independent films. Set in the historic Pizitz building downtown, the Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema pulls Birmingham forward by years and fills that void that has been so long neglected.

Formula Design is thrilled to have been a part of this endeavor. Working alongside the cinema’s leadership, we designed a captivating storefront experience in the Pizitz lobby area to draw in and orient visitors to the cinema. Inside the space, Formula developed graphics and donor recognition signage that compliments the space’s elevated fixtures and finishes to create an engaging and relaxing environment for cinema patrons.
